Is Your Website Mobile Responsive?
Make your website work on all platforms
Mobile Responsive?
Many people who read the title of this blog are probably thinking - mobile responsive? What's that?
Do you often reach for your phone when looking for a local business? You type in the business name and click on the website link. If you have to physically zoom in to read the content, scroll sideways to see images and the whole site looks strange... it probably means this website is not mobile responsive.
Mobile Responsive websites respond to the size of the user's device, move columns to fit the proper space, and even hide any unnecessary images. Mobile responsive websites look professional and work flawlessly on all types of devices.
How do I know if my website is mobile responsive?
One of the easiest ways to figure out if your website is responsive is to use a smartphone and go to your website. If your pages look strange and are acting funny, it probably means that it is NOT mobile responsive. If you're on a desktop computer, try reducing your browser's window size. If your text, images and menu get smaller and move properly in the space - congratulations your website is responsive!
Why does Google matter?
Back in 2015, Google announced that there was going to be changes in their search engine algorithms. One of the changes was that your website's mobile presence needed to be user-friendly on any hand-held device. Previously, web developers created multiple websites at different sizes to accommodate different screen sizes. The Google bots that crawl through your website, now only have to crawl your pages once, instead of multiple times to retrieve all versions of your content.
the Benefits?
- Your website is guaranteed to work well on any device that your potential customer is using leading to a more positive experience which increases lead generation and sales.
- You have a better chance to show up in search engines because Google will favour your website over your competitor's website that isn't mobile responsive.
- It's an effective way to refine your websites content because you can decide what devices will see what information.
- Your potential client can easily click on different forms of contact and immediately be able to call or email you.
